What Is It?

The Yamaha X-MAX 300 is a premium learner friendly maxi scooter and is powered by a Euro 4 compliant liquid cooled 292 cc single cylinder four stroke engine, producing 27.6 bhp at 7,250 rpm and maximum torque at 5,750 rpm.

Features include:

  • Automatic CVT gearbox with belt drive
  • 267 mm disc up front with two piston caliper
  • 245 mm disc at the rear with single piston caliper
  • ABS and traction control
  • 33 mm fork with 110 mm travel
  • Dual rear shocks with pre-load adjustment and 79 mm travel
  • LED lights and position lights

Compared to the X-MAX 250 the big upgrade is Yamaha's new "Blue Core" engine, which is up 43 cc with 7.5 bhp more power and has a red line 1,000 rpm lower. It's designed to be better performing and more fuel efficient which is just as well because the fuel capacity is down a notch on the old model.

Other changes include moving the front disc to the right side, increasing seat height by 10 mm, fitting new twin eye LED headlights and a keyless start system. There's actually a third central LED light which acts as the high beam so you get the cool twin eye look on low beam. Top speed and economy are up while weight is down 3 kg.

The exceptional underseat storage takes two full face helmets and more while also being wide enough for some laptops. As before there are two cubbyholes in the steering column, the left of which has a 12V socket for charging phones etc.

The 5-split spoke 15" front wheel takes a 120/70 tyre and the rear 14" a 140/70.

Accessories include an Akrapovic black / Titanium slip-on (£540 / £505), 39 litre top box (£132), 50 litre top box (£182), comfort seat (£244), heated grips (£134), tall screen (£128), mini sport screen (£70), Aluminium foot plates (£58) and USB socket (£23).
