Kawasaki GTR1400

What Is It?

  • Smooth power, long distance comfort
  • Super heavy, no under seat storage

It's powered by a liquid cooled 1,352cc inline four cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT), producing 152.9bhp at 8,800rpm and maximum torque at 6,200rpm.

Features include:

  • Aluminium twin spar frame with shaft drive
  • Dual 310mm wavy discs up front with 2 piston calipers
  • 270mm wavy disc at the rear with single piston caliper
  • Combined braking system
  • Adjustable 43mm upside down fork with 113mm travel
  • Remotely adjustable rear shock with 136mm travel
  • Traction control, economy riding mode
  • Slipper clutch, side and centre stands
  • 4->1 exhaust system
  • 6 speed gearbox with gear position indicator

The bike is based on the ZZR1400 sports bike, sharing the same 1,352cc engine in a lower state of tune (-44bhp) for easier low-mid speed riding. The main difference is the addition of a tall electrically adjustable screen, panniers, a more relaxed riding position and shaft drive which unfortunately adds a lot to the overall weight.

Compared to the 2007-2009 model the glovebox is now in the left fairing, the re-designed electrically adjustable screen is 70mm taller, the gills on the side are more pronounced and protect from the wind better, heated grips are now standard, the mirrors have been re-positioned, traction control has been added, the seat is more comfortable and it's 8kg lighter.

Storage is great with 35 litre detachable hard panniers, there's a 12V socket for sat navs, tyre pressure monitoring and keyless start. The 5 Y-spoke 17" wheels take a 120/70 tyre at the front and 190/50 at the rear.

Accessories include ABS (adds 4 kg), 47 litre top box and a comfort seat.
