Peugeot Metropolis For Sale
The Peugeot Metropolis is an A2 licence friendly 3-wheeled maxi scooter and is powered by a 400cc single cylinder engine which puts out 37bhp. It was first released in 2014 with a major update in 2017 and is available in numerous spec levels.
- Stability, equipment, storage, security, can be ridden on a car licence
- Heavy side, pricey, range, under powered, speedo is primarily in km/h
What Is It?
It's powered by a liquid cooled 400cc single cylinder four stroke engine, producing 36.7bhp at 7,250rpm and maximum torque at 5,500rpm.
- Automatic CVT gearbox with belt final drive
- Dual 230mm discs up front with Nissin 2 piston calipers
- 240mm disc at the rear with Nissin 2 piston caliper
- Combined Braking System (CBS) (also via foot pedal)
- Dual adjustable rear shocks with 4 level pre-load
- Hand adjustable screen over 130mm/3 positions
- Adjustable rider's backrest over 40mm
- Keyless start within 1.5m (there's no key ignition switch)
- Parking brake and centre stand
- Vertical LED position lights between the wheels
Like a number of other three wheelers the front two tilt in unison when cornering, so it corners more like a bike than a car and one button press at low speeds under 6mph will lock it in upright mode for parking/slow moving traffic with it auto-releasing as you add more throttle again.
Another cool and somewhat practical feature, alongside the usual but smallish underseat storage and 12V equipped glovebox, is an actual car style boot for your helmet with interior lights; check the pics above. You can even ride it on a car licence if you passed before 2013 because the width between the front wheels classes it as a tricycle.
The Metropolis was available in two versions from 2014 which featured the Combined Braking System, 12" front wheels, just the one key and no traction control/tyre pressure wizardry:
400 Metro - £7,000
Colours: Grey, silver, white
400 RS - £7,200
Red detailing on the grill/wheels and metal footplates.
Colours: Black, grey, silver, white, blue
...and three from 2017 which featured ABS, traction control, new engine and larger wheels:
400 Metro - £7,800
Colours: Grey, white, brown
400 RS - £7,900
Small sporty tinted screen with red detailing on the grill, seat and black wheels.
Colours: Grey, silver
400 RX-R - £7,900
Red side panels, footplates and small sporty tinted screen.
The original models featured 9-spoke 12" wheels with 120/70s at the front and 140/70 at the rear. From 2017 the cooler 6-spoke machined 13" front wheels take 110/70 Michelin Citygrip tyres and the rear 14" a 140/70.
Accessories include hand guards, taller pillion backrest, satnav, top box, side wind protectors, footplates, tall screen and a special U-lock that fits both front wheels.
2017: New 50% stiffer front frame, Euro 4 engine, lighter steering, USB socket in glovebox, larger boot to hold a full face helmet, 13" wheels at the front, Continental ABS system 23% reducing stopping distance and there's now traction control with 2 modes and off mode however it's 2kg heavier. RX-R edition released.
2018: Special edition celebrating Peugeot's 120 years in bikes which gets you front/rear dashcams, a special seat, Aluminium footboards and a shiny grill plate. RRP is £8,200.
2019: Red colour scheme added to standard model and black with red detailing to the RS.
